CompTIA Cyberstates 2020™ report reveals tech sector’s impact
Lincoln, Neb. – Information technology (IT) employment in Nebraska totals more than 64,000 workers, according to Cyberstates 2020™, the definitive guide to the U.S. tech industry, occupations and trends published annually by CompTIA, the leading trade association for the global IT industry.
Net tech employment in Nebraska stood at 64,362 at the end of 2019, accounting for 6.1% of the state’s workforce. Tech-related employment increased by nearly 1,200 jobs last year, the highest total of any industry in the state.
Between 2010 and 2019 net tech employment increased by 18%, with 9,800 jobs added. There are nearly 3,500 tech business establishments in the state.
The tech sector accounts for an estimated $6.6 billion in economic activity, 6% of the state’s economy.
The estimated median tech occupation wage in Nebraska is $73,475, 80% higher than the median wage for all occupations in the state.

Cyberstates 2020 is based on CompTIA’s analysis of data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, Economic Modeling Specialists International (EMSI), Burning Glass Technologies, Hoovers and other sources.
