CompTIA Cyberstates 2020™ reveals tech’s impact on employment, economy
Topeka, Kan. – Information technology (IT) employment in Kansas surpassed 95,000 workers in 2019, according to Cyberstates 2020™, the definitive guide to the U.S. tech industry, occupations and trends published annually by CompTIA, the leading trade association for the global IT industry.
Net tech employment totaled an estimated 95,208 workers at the end of 2019, or 6.4% of the state’s workforce.[1] Kansas is home to more than 5,000 tech business establishments.
The median tech occupation wage in Kansas is $71,160, 79% higher than the median wage for all occupations in the state.
At $8.9 billion the tech sector accounts for an estimated 5.7% of the Kansas economy.

Cyberstates 2020 is based on CompTIA’s analysis of data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, Economic Modeling Specialists International (EMSI), Burning Glass Technologies, Hoovers and other sources.
