Seventh annual virtual conference on the business of technology set for August 4-6

Downers Grove, Ill. – Opinions, insights and guidance on how companies involved in the business of technology can survive pandemic-induced challenges and emerge stronger than ever will be shared by industry thought leaders next month during ChannelCon Online 2020.

The annual virtual conference presented by CompTIA, the nonprofit association for the global tech industry, is scheduled for August 4-6.

For the seventh consecutive year, CompTIA has recruited a diverse group of decision makers, entrepreneurs, thought leaders and visionaries from leading hardware, software and service companies. Many of these executives are scheduled to speak on Wednesday, August 5, during five educational sessions organized and presented by CompTIA’s member communities.

The day’s agenda begins at 11:00 a.m. CDT with the Global Perspectives Power Panel. Leaders from CompTIA member communities in Australia/New Zealand, Benelux, Canada, Singapore, and the United Kingdom will share perspectives on how their markets have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and how tech firms are responding.

The Power Panel will be followed by four community forums.

• Prepare for the Future of Work with a Learning Culture (11:30 a.m. CDT) – The Advancing Tech Talent and Diversity Community discusses strategies to curate a “culture of learning” that establishes a problem-solving, opportunity-focused mindset for employee development, including why leaders should operate more like coaches than bosses.
• Which Emerging Technologies will Accelerate Long-Term after COVID-19 Subsides? (12:05 p.m. CDT) – Members of the Emerging Technology Community will take a deep dive into the community’s recently released Top 10 list of technologies that are creating business opportunities. Presenters will discuss the long-term impact artificial intelligence, blockchain, the internet of things and other innovations will have in a post-pandemic world.
• Make Your Voice Heard: IT Solution Provider Legislation and Licensing Efforts (12:40 p.m. CDT) – Municipalities, states and federal agencies have fallen victim to ransomware attacks, the cost of which has risen every quarter for the last three years. People are looking for someone to hold accountable. In this session from the Managed Services Community, MSP market experts will make the case that the time is now – while lawmakers are considering legislation – for the industry to get involved in the debate.
• Holistic Approaches to Cybersecurity (1:15 p.m. CDT) – With more environments to protect, new threats growing and governments poised to enact new legislation and regulation, the cybersecurity environment has never been more challenging. Members of the IT Security Community will address these issues and others to help businesses elevate their cybersecurity game.

The ChannelCon Solutions Showcase reconvenes from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. CDT on August 5. More than 100 companies will be available to share the latest information on new products and services.

The day’s activities will conclude with a CompTIA Virtual Meetup where participants will have a chance to unwind, relax and network.
